Carl Fogarty called Jake Quickenden ‘family’ one day before split from daughter Danielle and joked he was selling books to pay for the wedding
CARL Fogarty called Jake Quickenden "family" just a day before news broke of his split from the superbike champion's daughter daughter.
The former racer had nothing but good things to say about his future son-in-law just 24 hours before The Sun revealed the couple had ended their engagement.
Carl, 52, is believed to have introduced the pair after becoming friends with Jake, 29, during their stint on I'm A Celebrity.
In a chat with the , which took place a day before The Sun's story broke, he called Jake a "sound lad" and joked he was having to sell a lot of books to pay for the wedding.
Carl said: "Jake has been in the family since the Jungle.
"He’s a sound lad who works hard.”
The publication reports that Carl, who yesterday slammed I'm a Celeb pal Ant McPartlin over his drink drive arrest, also joked about how he was planning to do his father of the bride speech "off the cuff" after having a few beers on the couple's big day.
The Sun revealed earlier this month that the couple had parted ways seven months after Jake proposed to Danielle.
They called time on their three-year romance during a break in Rome
The split comes after a series of explosive rows over Jake’s partying with newly single Love Island hunk and Dancing On Ice co-star Kem Cetinay.

A source said: “Jake and Danielle have been joined at the hip since her dad introduced them.
"But winning Dancing On Ice has meant Jake’s had other priorities.
"He’s been touring the country with Kem on the show’s tour and getting a lot of female attention, which hasn’t been easy for Danielle.
“Things aren’t going to get any easier on that front either, with Jake set to join The Dreamboys strip group. It’s caused a lot of friction and they’ve both decided to take a breather.
“They are now in the UK and are spending time with their families. The wedding is very much off for now.”
