And the forward who hit the extra-time winner against England will be welcoming Ronaldo to Italy next week after his £99million move from Real Madrid.

The 33-year-old will be unveiled on Monday, but Mandzukic - who could make way for Portuguese superstar - is not interested in club matters.

Ahead of the clash against France, he said: “I don’t care about that.

“The win against England was the biggest achievement of my career, until Sunday.”

Did Juventus accidentally leak the announcement of Cristiano Ronaldo?

Mandzukic, 32, has been linked with a move to Manchester United after the World Cup, but Juve boss Max Allegri sees him as a vital member of the squad.

He recently said: “Mandzukic will surely remain at Juventus, from next season he will be playing as a striker again, no more as a winger.”

The final is a repeat of the World Cup semi-final in 1998 when Lilian Thuram scored twice for the French in the 2-1 win in Paris.

The pair have met five times with Croatia still looking for their first win, so victory in Moscow would be a perfect time to break their duck.
