GARETH SOUTHGATE'S touching letter to an England staff member shows why the Three Lions chief is so loved.
The national boss has won over a new legion of fans since leading the country to a World Cup semi-final.
The defeat to Croatia crushed dreams but despite this the waistcoat-wearing boss has earned sky high public approval.
And part of the reason for that is his care and attention to those working around him.
That was revealed perfectly by England's social media man Jim Lucas on Twitter.
Lucas uploaded a photo of a note Southgate sent him, writing alongside the image: "When we arrived in Repino a month ago, this was on my bed.

"I've looked at it every day since - and it was the first thing I looked at when we got back this morning.
"I am so proud to work for this team and this manager."
Southgate's heartfelt letter read: "The more I see, the more important it is that when 'attacking this tournament' we tell our own story.
"You're capturing that brilliantly.
"Keep doing it and I hope this World Cup brings you unforgettable personal memories. Best wishes, Gareth."
Poignant images showed Southgate and wife Alison alone in an empty Luzhniki Stadium following the extra-time loss to Croatia.
The pair were pictured locked in an embrace long after proud Three Lions supporters had filtered out of the ground.
