CROATIA today scored an early goal against England after the country's cheeky president handed Theresa May a national team shirt with her name on it.

It comes as England fans count down the hours until the two teams square off in tonight's World Cup semi, with the winner set to meet France in the final.

Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic also posted photos of herself chatting with Angela Merkel - and even giving Donald Trump his own Croatia national team top.

Despite simmering tensions with Theresa May over his claim the UK is in "turmoil", Trump was photographed grinning as he posed for a photo with the shirt.

Trump is said to take a passing interest in football, with his son Barron, 12, having been seen before wearing an Arsenal shirt.

He also numbers Manchester United owners the Glazer family as among his friends, and even appeared on ITV's Saint And Greavsie in 1992.

His attempts at Ronaldo banter with Portugal's president also made headlines during their oval office meeting last month.

The American President tried to muscle in on the World Cup talk when he met his Portugal counterpart Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.

According to CNN, Trump started the conversation by asking Rebelo de Sousa: "So, tell me, how good a player is he? Are you impressed? They say he is the greatest ever."

The Portuguese politician responded: "I'm very much impressed. He's the best player in the world."

Trump then revealed his youngest son Barron knows everything there is to know about the Juventus star.

He then made the mistake of calling Ronaldo by the wrong name, asking: "So will Christian ever run for president against you?"
