“It’s coming home”: Is it coming home, when is it coming home and where can I watch it come home?

What started as a bit of a joke back in June could now actually happen - so England fans are daring to dream again

England fans went wild after beating Sweden in the quarter-final and will have an even bigger celebration if the Three Lions beat Croatia to reach the World Cup final

JUST in case you hadn't heard, it's coming home.

The country has been captivated by Gareth Southgate's young Lions and their run to the semi-finals in Russia - which has all played out to a familiar 22-year-old terrace favourite.

Is it coming home?

WE all know for a fact that if 'it' does, there won't be many of you coming home from the pub on Sunday night.

Yet it was here on this island that the first written laws of football were produced, as well as the first national football federation and the first organised cup and league competitions.

Okay, so the Scots put the ball on the ground first. We'll give them that one.

But 'it' could also be the return of the optimistic, feel-good summers that World Cup tournaments are supposed to be all about.

We've missed those in the last two decades as English fans have got used to humiliating campaigns every four years, like clockwork.

David Baddiel and Frank Skinner wrote Three Lions as a slightly ironic song, looking back at all of England's oh-so-nears since 1966.

But for the first time since it was released in 1996, the whole country seems captivated and united behind an England team.

And in this modern era, public hysteria and celebration will inevitably lead to one thing - memes.

Here's five of our favourites from a mad couple of weeks.

When is it coming home?

COME on, surely you know this?

If England make it past Croatia, they set up a World Cup final with France on Sunday, July 15.

Southgate could have the trophy (or at least a replica) safely tucked up on the plane come Monday morning.

Where can I watch it come home?

FOR the first time in the tournament, you'll have a choice.

Both ITV and BBC are showing the final simultaneously, so take your pick.
