JUST in case you hadn't heard, it's coming home.
The country has been captivated by Gareth Southgate's young Lions and their run to the semi-finals in Russia - which has all played out to a familiar 22-year-old terrace favourite.
Is it coming home?
WE all know for a fact that if 'it' does, there won't be many of you coming home from the pub on Sunday night.
Yet it was here on this island that the first written laws of football were produced, as well as the first national football federation and the first organised cup and league competitions.
Okay, so the Scots put the ball on the ground first. We'll give them that one.
But 'it' could also be the return of the optimistic, feel-good summers that World Cup tournaments are supposed to be all about.
We've missed those in the last two decades as English fans have got used to humiliating campaigns every four years, like clockwork.
David Baddiel and Frank Skinner wrote Three Lions as a slightly ironic song, looking back at all of England's oh-so-nears since 1966.
