GORAN IVANISEVIC has slammed England as "arrogant" for believing they will walk over Croatia to book a place in the World Cup final.

Gareth Southgate's side take on Croatia on Wednesday hoping to reach the final of a World Cup for the first time since 1966.

The country has gone football mad amid England's suprise run at the World Cup, with strains of "Football's Coming Home" echoing around almost every corner.

But the giant Croatian, who famously broke the heart of Tim Henman in a Wimbledon semi-final in 2001, has accused England of being too cocky ahead of the clash in Moscow.

Ivanisevic said: “I hope we don't lose to the English; because already you are in the final.

“You already won. You're coming home. You're bringing the trophy - you're so arrogant.

"You are the best. You are the most beautiful.

“For sure you are coming home, but I hope not with the trophy.”

Ivanisevic, who caught the imagination of Britain when he won Wimbledon as a wildcard 17 years ago, will be watching compatriot Milos Raonic in quarter-final action on Wednesday.

The 46-year-old, once a talented footballer who played for Hajduk Split, intends to cheer Raonic to victory against John Isner before enjoying watching England suffer - or so he hopes - later in the evening.

He is desperate for Raonic to play first, and then told the BBC he would be "in the pub with the other English people and hopefully I'm going to be the last one standing and laughing".

England are hoping they can take advantage of the fact Croatia may be tired after being forced into extra-time in each of their knock-out matches.
