But the game proved to be quite the distraction - especially at one crucially important moment in the festivities.

As the happy couple prepared to cut the cake, Harry Maguire headed in England’s first goal, sending bride, groom and all the wedding guests wild.

The hilarious moment was captured on camera by event videographer Tommy Rowe of Rowe Films in Exeter, DevonLive reports.

A clip shows guests cheering as the ball hits the back of the net, before cutting to the bride and groom who seem not to care that the Three Lions victory ate into their big day.

The pair seem oblivious to the interruption to their big day, and instead can be seen leaping around and grinning - with Mike still brandishing the large knife with which he was meant to cut the cake.

Cameraman Tommy described the moment as "absolute gold".

He told DevonLive: "They managed to hook up a projector and the game was on during the wedding breakfast.

"It was swelteringly hot, but the atmosphere was just celebration all round.
