Spartak Moscow's centre back showed the huge bruising and a cut on his foot
BLOOD, sweat and tears went into Russia's World Cup campaign — especially from defender Ilya Kutepov.
Spartak Moscow's centre-back suffered a gruesome injury to his right foot in Saturday's quarter-final defeat to Croatia.
And it was revealed by the team's official Twitter account on Sunday.
The eye-watering image shows bruising across Kutepov's foot as well as a cut.
It was suffered in an incident in the first-half and the 24-year-old played for more than 100 minutes with the injury after the game went to extra time.
The account said: "Ilya Kutepova's leg is a superfluous confirmation that the team did everything that could and even more!
"The trauma was received in the first half, and there were still 100 minutes ahead..."
But Russia's World Cup is over after being beaten by Croatia in Sochi.
England lie in wait for Croatia for the semi-final in Moscow on Wednesday.
Russia had impressed and exceeded many peoples' expectations.
They came second in Group A after beating Saudi Arabia 5-0 in their opening match and then knocked out 2010 champions Spain.
