England vs Russia football record: What are the past results between the teams?
World Cup hosts Russia have stunned even their own fans after battling out of Group A then knocking out Spain
HOST nation Russia have been the surprise package of the World Cup.
Before a ball was kicked, many in the country feared that they would be out in the groups without even scoring - and now they're on the cusp of a semi-final.
What are the past results between England and Russia?
THE sides have met three times since the turn of the Millenium.
And they've shared the spoils, with one win for England, one for Russia and a draw.
When Russia was the USSR, England slightly edged the encounters with five wins, compared to the Soviet Unions three between 1958 and 1991.
The last meeting was two years ago in Euro 2016 - and was marred by off-field trouble in Marseille.
On the pitch the game finished 1-1, as Eric Dier's 73rd minute strike was cancelled out in the final seconds by Vassili Berezutskiy.
History counts for little though in this mad World Cup, where a European team is now guaranteed to lift the trophy next weekend.
