World Cup 2018: Harry Kane says England will ‘make nation proud’ and hopes to kick off boozy celebrations because he was cheering on the national team ‘not so long ago’
Three Lions captain and his Band of Brothers are aiming to send the beers flying today by sealing a spot in the World Cup semi-final for the first time since 1990
CAPTAIN fantastic Harry Kane wants to send England fans wild - just like the time he was drenched in beer as a supporter.
The Three Lions star plans to fire England to their first World Cup semi-final for 28 years and give the country a boozy weekend.
Fans shared wild videos online after the Colombia win and the striker reminisced on a time that used to be him in the middle of the celebrations.
Kane said: “It’s massive. We all see the videos on social media after games. I said after Tunisia, I was one of those fans not too long ago getting drink thrown over me and going wild.
“We wanted to make the country proud and it looks like we are doing that.
“We want to bring the whole country together and to see them enjoying it as they are fantastic.”
England and Sweden fans party on streets of Samara as they prepare for historic World Cup quarter-final
More than 24 million England fans watched the last-16 shootout win over Colombia on Tuesday.
Kane is tournament top scorer with six goals from four games and one more would better Gary Lineker’s record tally from the 1986 finals.
The Tottenham striker paid tribute to the strong bond between Gareth Southgate’s team, claiming everyone is enjoying each other’s company.
Kane said: “I look at them as my brothers and they do the same. We’ve spent a lot of time together. We all get on very well. Just like family, really.
“I spoke about togetherness and trust before the tournament but we want to prove it.
“We have done that so far. It’s made us even stronger. That joy on everyone’s face the other night — we’d worked so hard to achieve that and it makes us even prouder.
“There is definitely a hunger because of the other night. When you go through a battle like that, it gives you so much energy and belief.
“We’re hungry for more. If it goes to extra-time and penalties, we’ll be ready. We’re ready to do whatever it takes.

“We’re not really thinking about being world champions yet. There is a long way to go and we are only just in the second half of the tournament. It has been great up until now but we have another step to overcome.”
Boss Southgate also praised skipper Kane, comparing him to rugby hero Jonny Wilkinson, who steered England to the 2003 World Cup.
Southgate said: “I think it was three-and-a-half minutes from the penalty being given to when they eventually left him alone but I knew he was fine when he picked the ball up for about the fourth time. He reset himself.
“Much like you see Jonny Wilkinson, he’s of that sort of mentality and calibre.”
Ian Wright and Alan Shearer talk to Shaun Custis about England’s World Cup clash with Sweden
As for England’s stars earning more than their opponents today, Southgate added: “Sweden like to point out we’re paid this and that, and we’re the team of entitlement, when I don’t think that is the case. We’ve scrapped and fought our way.
“We’re an improving side who want to make our own history. It’s not since 1990 that we’ve been in a World Cup semi-final. We’re hugely ambitious and want to do that.”

KNOW YOUR ENEMY - OLA TOIVONEN
His name rings a bell... THE Sweden forward was in English football three years ago on a season-long loan at Sunderland. But he made just nine Premier League starts and his only goal was the consolation in a League Cup defeat to Manchester City.
What else has he done? HAD a decent scoring record in Holland with PSV Eindhoven before moving to France with Rennes and Toulouse but has not been as prolific.
This is his chance in the big time, then? YES, as he thought his chance on a big stage passed him by when Liverpool were interested during Roy Hodgson's reign but he did not push through a move. "Not fighting hard enough for that to happen is something I regret in my life," he said.
He is relishing Russia.... SCORED a stunning goal against Germany when Toni Kroos failed to track his run, he controlled the through ball from Viktor Claesson and lobbed Manuel Neuer.
So he raises his game for Sweden?IN qualification he scored a 50-yard lob against France to help his country reach the play-offs. Now 32, beware of a player with a point to prove after flopping in England.
