The West Ham striker, 30, netted for his country against South Korea in the second group game of the tournament.

And along with Porto defender Layun, 30, the former Manchester United forward was all laughs as he participated in training ahead of their last-16 clash against the Samba Boys.

It follows a long line of stars dying their hair at major tournaments, a trend made famous by the Romania team at the 1998 World Cup in France, who showed their collective spirit by unveiling their bleach blonde barnets to go with their yellow jerseys.

Two years earlier, Paul Gascoigne had done the same, when playing for England at Euro 96 and he came up with a maverick string of performances, culminating in his magical goal against Scotland.

Two years ago, Aaron Ramsey bleached his top blonde ahead of Wales' incredible march to the Euro semi-finals.

And he didn't do badly, as he was named in the team of the tournament.

Of course, other English talents have added some highlights to their hair for major tournaments.

David Beckham famously donned a blond top for France 98, where he went from hero to zero in a matter of days.

And eagle-eyed fans will have noticed Dele Alli's light touch in his hair ahead of this year's blockbuster tournament.

Fans will be happy to know that Neymar has gotten rid of his spaghetti-style highlights though ahead of the clash with the Central Americans.
