World Cup 2018: Simon Mignolet hits out at Belgium boss Roberto Martinez for England snub
Back-up goalkeeper was left on bench as Thibaut Courtois was one of just two players to retain place for group stage clash
SIMON MIGNOLET has criticised Roberto Martinez's decision not to play him against England.
The Belgium boss made nine changes for the 1-0 win over the Three Lions, with only Thibaut Courtois and defender Dedryck Boyata keeping their places.
But Mignolet thinks Martinez was wrong not to swap his stoppers around as he is now out of nick should No1 Courtois get injured.
The Liverpool keeper, 30, said: "It is a pity that I had to stay on the bench while the team was completely changed. That is difficult and mentally difficult.
"Suppose that something happens to Thibaut, then I must play straight away but I have played very little in the past few months. That is not easy.
"They know that I can endure a lot but maybe that is to my disadvantage."

Meanwhile, Mignolet could find his Anfield career at an end this summer as reports link Liverpool with a new goalkeeper.
Loris Karius became Jurgen Klopp’s undisputed No 1 last season but two howlers in the Champions League final saw the German tactician miss out on silverware again.
It’s been said that Liverpool are now preparing a £30million offer for Lazio ace Thomas Strakosha.
His arrival would see Karius bumped down to back-up, with Mignolet likely to be moved on.
