A red card will be a one-match ban.

The likes of Kyle Walker and Jordan Henderson would have been banned for the semi-final if they has been booked against Sweden.

Yes - they did AFTER quarter-finals of the competition - this means now only a red card will see a player miss the final.

This is the same procedure as in the Champions League.

The 2010 World Cup was the first tournament to employ the rule, with previous tournaments not wiping the slate clean at any point before the final.
