World Cup 2018: Mexican fan sparks frantic three-day search after going missing from bathroom and ending up partying with blonde Russian girl
Francisco Javier Mata Sanchez missed Mexico's 1-0 win over Germany - sparking fears he had been drugged and kidnapped
A MEXICAN World Cup fan sparked a three-day search after fears he was drugged and kidnapped... only to find out he was partying with a blonde Russian.
Married lawyer Francisco Javier Mata Sanchez failed to turn up for Mexico's 1-0 win against Germany after leaving a bar in Moscow holding the hand of Alita Gamzatova three days prior.
Sanchez had told his brother and two friends he was going to the bathroom, but instead crept out of the pub to enjoy himself with Gamzatova.
His brother Nicolas then alerted the Mexican embassy, who worked with Russian authorities to try and track down the party animal.
Sanchez - who has a young baby with his wife - turned out to be staying at the woman's house, to allay fears he had been kidnapped.
His partner previously criticised Sanchez over his irresponsible behaviour, and his alleged cheating.
She told reporters: "We have a 10-month-old daughter and I do not want her to grow up without a father."
While Mexican spokeswoman Nayerli Cecena revealed he had "several days of partying" in the Russian capital.
Cenena added: "The important thing is he is okay and with his people (his brother and friends). Everything else that happened is a personal matter. He will continue with his trip."
Sanchez is yet to publicly speak about the incident, but one person who has been left angered is his Russian friend Gamzatova.

She told reporters: "It is an unpleasant story. I was slandered by Francisco's brother by him saying that I had kept him 'under custody', I had drugged him and robbed him. But it was nothing like that."
One thing is for certain... Sanchez has a whole lot of explaining to do once he gets back to Mexico.
