JESSE LINGARD’S confidence is soaring after his outstanding display helped England thrash Panama 6-1.
The 25-year-old won a penalty and scored a stunning goal to help the Three Lions seal a place in the last-16.
Lingard’s effort is right up there amongst the best we’ve seen so far in Russia and the Manchester United man justifiably feels on top of the world.
Gareth Southgate decided to give the attacker a rest for Thursday’s clash with Belgium moments after Harry Kane secured his hat-trick to give England a six-goal lead.
But Lingard was not finished with his showboating even after he was replaced by Fabian Delph in the 63rd minute.
The ace was caught by the cameras performing kick-ups with a pair of rolled-up socks during the final seconds, much to the amusement of his colleagues sat alongside him.
He told BBC after the victory: “We can go into the match with Belgium with confidence.
“With the system we play I thrive in that role. We have a great team spirit at the moment.
“With the squad we’ve got and the confidence flowing I don’t see why we can’t go all the way.
“We will take it game by game and well keep learning. Its good vibes at the moment and there’s a lot of positivity. We’ll take it into the Belgium game.”
