World Cup 2018: Belgian’s Eden Hazard’s goal against Tunisia breaks record for 27 consecutive games without goalless draw
Star needed just six minutes to break the deadlock courtesy of a penalty and create a piece of World Cup history
EDEN HAZARD's goal against Tunisia broke a World Cup record this afternoon.
The Chelsea playmaker opened the scoring for the Belgians after just six minutes.
Hazard was fouled in the area but brushed himself off to convert the resulting penalty.
And not only did that break the deadlock, it also created a piece of history.
His strike ensured there have now been 27 consecutive World Cup games without a goalless draw.
And that is the longest sequence ever recorded since the tournament began in 1930.
Things got even better for Belgium just ten minutes later as they doubled their advantage.
Manchester United's Romelu Lukaku was in the right place to fire home from Dries Mertens' pass.
That made it the third game of the tournament where a team has scored twice in the first half.
But Tunisia got themselves back into it almost immediately when Dylan Bronn headed in from Wahbi Khazri before Lukaku restored the two-goal advantage with just seconds of the half to go.
