Mo Salah denies reports he has asked to leave World Cup early and return to Liverpool after Egypt elimination
Egypt star was allegedly planning on quitting his country's World Cup camp early after their early exit but denied the rumours on Twitter
MO SALAH has denied rumours he intended to quit Egypt's World Cup camp early and return to Liverpool following his side's early exit from the tournament.
Salah, 26, missed The Pharaohs' opening defeat to Uruguay but played the full 90 minutes, and scored, in the 3-1 defeat to hosts Russia.
His dislocated shoulder recovered in time for Egypt's second match but with two defeats from two and no chance of catching Russia or Uruguay, the game against Saudi Arabia is redundant.
And there was speculation that Salah wanted to return to Liverpool early to maximise his summer break before the Reds' first pre-season game on July 22 against Borussia Dortmund.
Salah, who signed for the Anfield club a year ago today, took to Twitter to voice his commitment to the national team while the Egyptian FA denied the possibility of such a move by the captain.
President of the Egyptian FA, Hany Abo Rida, said: "I have no idea about Liverpool. But we have our captain Mohamed Salah and under the rules FIFA requires him to be inside his camp and requires him to stay with his team.
"I do not know what Liverpool meant, but he did not ask his club any questions.
"He is happy to mingle with his team-mates and he was shocked by what the press has written about him and denied it all on social media.
"We're all perplexed by what has been published and have no idea where it came from."
Egpyt's third and final game at this year's World Cup is on Monday afternoon, after which Salah will be free to return to Liverpool as he hopes to emulate his goalscoring exploits again next season.
