Uruguay 1 Saudi Arabia 0: Luis Suarez scores in his 100th international game as South Americans reach last-16
LUIS SUAREZ scored in his 100th international game as Uruguay reached the last-16 of this summer's World Cup.
The Barcelona man, 31, netted a real poacher's effort in the first-half as he put his miserable display against Egypt behind him.
Uruguay are now guaranteed a spot in the knockout stages along with Russia - who beat Egypt 3-1 last night.
Once again it was far from impressive from the World Cup "dark horses".
But at least this time they weren't indebted to a last-gasp winner - with Suarez's goal coming in the 23rd minute.
However, the goal itself was a tad fortunate - as Saudi Arabia goalkeeper Mohammed Alowais came off his line and missed the ball completely.
The ball fell to Suarez six yards out, who was left with the task of slotting it into the empty net.
After that it was mostly Saudi Arabia, though - who enjoyed 53 per cent of possession and had eight shots.
But they only managed to hit the target twice and rarely seriously threatened the Uruguay goal.
They will now head home, with their next game against Egypt a dead-rubber for both sides.

Uruguay meanwhile will head into their game with rampant Russia looking to rediscover their form... and slow down the hosts' goal-machine in the process.
Both teams have six points from their opening two games - with Russia well on top in terms of goal difference.
The two teams will now go head-to-head for the top spot in Group A - with Portugal, Iran and Spain potential opponents in the last-16.
