He is expected to attend some of the games in Russia however, and has revealed two players he expects to take the World Cup by storm.

And one is a former team-mate.

Speaking to , the 36-year-old said: "I think [Paul] Pogba for sure, who everybody knows is fast and skilful.

"[Kylian] Mbappe, an up-and-coming star who still has more to give to get to the top, but he will for sure arrive there.

"There are so many players who are exciting at the moment that for sure some other star that nobody has been talking about will dominate."

Pogba, 25, endured an inconsistent 2017/18 campaign for Manchester United, and even spent time on the bench under Jose Mourinho.

Big things were expected of the French international after he rejoined the Red Devils in August 2016 for a then-world record £89m deal.

But he has so far failed to live up to that price tag in his second stint at Old Trafford.

Mbappe, at just 19-years-old, is very much still learning the game, but seems to have the world, and maybe the World Cup, at his feet.

He spent last season on loan with Paris Saint-Germain from Monaco, and is expected to complete a £166m deal this summer.
