Zinedine Zidane told to forget about France job as Didier Deschamps gets backing
Former Real Madrid boss has been strongly linked with taking charge of his country after the 2018 World Cup
ZINEDINE ZIDANE has been told he will have to wait for the France job after Didier Deschamps was backed to remain in the hot-seat until at least 2020.
Former Real Madrid boss Zidane has been strongly linked with the national side following his Bernabeu exit.
Current French manager Deschamps believes Zidane is destined to take over when he leaves in the future.
But the French Football Federation insist Deschamps will be allowed to remain until the end of his contract in 2020, meaning Zidane must look elsewhere for an immediate return to the beautiful game.
FFF president Noel Le Graet told BFM TV: “Didier Deschamps has a contract until 2020… he will stay until 2020.”
France are considered one of the favourites for the World Cup in Russia, just two years after losing in the Euro 2016 final to Portugal.
