Who is Morocco vs Iran VAR official Felix Zwayer and how many World Cups has German referee officiated in?
Felix Zwayer will be part of Fifa's VAR team at the World Cup in Russia
THE World Cup is finally underway in Russia.
And this year's tournament will see a team of VAR officials dispatched, in full kit, to run the rule over decisions, including Germany's Felix Zwayer.
Who is Felix Zwayer?
Feliz Zwayer was born in 1981, in what was then West Berlin. He is 37 years old.
He began officiating in German professional football in 2004 before being promoted to the second tier in 2007 and the Bundesliga in 2009.
In 2016 he was forced to suspend a match for eight minutes after then-Bayer Leverkusen manager Roger Schmidt protested a controversial free kick and refused to leave the field after being sent off.
And last season he was the victim of some unwanted interference by the Schalke mascot when he was refereeing the club's derby match with Borussia Dortmund.
After Zwayer denied Schalke, a fake red card was thrown from the stands which mascot Erwin picked up and showed to the official.
But the German FA (DFB) did not see the funny side and warned the mascot that he could face a pitchside ban if the incident were to be repeated.
Former Bundesliga referee Thorsten Kinhofer told Bild: "The mascot makes the ref look like a fool. You can't do it."
Zwayer also refereed England's World Cup qualifier against Slovenia last year.
Has he officiated at the World Cup before?
Felix Zwayer has never refereed at a World Cup before, but he was present at the 2015 Under-20 tournament in New Zealand.
