Peru World Cup 2018 squad: Paolo Guerrero captains Ricardo Gareca’s team after having ban overturned
Peru have named their provisional squad for the World Cup after Paolo Guerrero was controversially banned for doping
PERU have named their provisional squad for their first World Cup in 36 years.
The South American nation suffered a dramatic setback in the days in the build up to the announcement as captain Paolo Guerrero was controversially banned for doping.
Guerrero had had his ban reduced for 12 months to six months by Fifa before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) held up an appeal by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and extended it to 14 months.
Following Guerrero's ban, boss Ricardo Gareca has named a provisional squad without the captain.
