Leap of faith
The runner became interested in Hyrox in 2022 and decided to put her athletic prowess to the test.
This required taking a leap of faith, as Meg needed to devote a lot of time to training.
She decided to quit her job and focus on athletics full-time.
This meant she lost her income, making HYROX a big gamble for her.
Meg explained to the Morning Chalk Up that she had “no sponsors” when she left her job but “doors just started opening” when she put her all into training.
The athlete recommended that newcomers focus on running, before maintaining their strength through strenuous activity including swimming.
Taking home the title
Meg won big at the 2024 HYROX World Championship in June, when she took home the winning title in the women’s elite field category.
When she crossed the finish line, Meg became the first woman to beat a HYROX race in under an hour.
The athlete was also met at the end of the race by her daughter, who is one of Meg’s biggest supporters and the reason that she carries on competing at HYROX.
Meg said: “My daughter has sacrificed just as much, if not more, than I have because she’s sacrificing a lot of time away from me so I can do what I need to do and be living my dream as an athlete,”
“It felt like it was all worth it.
"Having her there was just really, really special.
"She gets to witness so many strong, powerful, incredible women when she gets to watch my races – not just me.”
