HORMONAL health is crucial for our overall wellbeing, but is often overlooked until it becomes a noticeable issue.

But while we’re all aware of the roles hormones play in our menstrual cycles and through to menopause, many don’t realise they influence everything from mood and energy levels, to libido and even appetite.

OFTEN called myo inositol in supplement form, this is a sugar made in the body and found in foods such as beans, nuts, citrus fruits and cantaloupe melon.

It can help regulate hormone levels which in turn can help regulate menstrual cycles, keep ovarian function healthy and positively affect mood and fertility.

Nutri Advanced Myo-Inositol Powder is described as the most bioavailable and absorbable form of inositol, and it’s really easy to take – just stir some flavourless powder into water or juice.

HEALTH brand MyOva has devised botanical teas for hormone health with the help of a naturopath and herbalist.

I tried the Hormonal Balance Tea, for those experiencing tiredness, heaviness and bloating, imbalanced blood sugar levels and poor sleep due to hormonal fluctuations.

It contains vitamin B6 to support hormonal regulation, Ceylon cinnamon bark to maintain normal blood- glucose levels, ashwagandha root to help counteract the effects of stress, spearmint, ginger root and shatavari to keep menstrual cycles regular.

The overwhelming taste is mint, which I loved – and did sleep better afterwards.

Each bag costs £20 for 60 servings and two cups a day are recommended.

I WAS skeptical, as these are pushed so hard on social media.

Happy Mammoth’s Hormone Harmony is billed as a blend of plant extracts relieving meno-pause symptoms, premenstrual tension and bloating.

They have been brilliant for me in that they have really helped improve my mood.

I can tell by my general crankiness when I haven’t taken them – and will certainly keep on them.

They contain a huge mix of ingredients including ashwagandha KSM-66®, fennel seed, maca, chamomile, chaste-tree berry extract, wild-yam root, rosemary and vitamin B6.
