The 2022 Commonwealth Games launched with a bang with a spectacular opening ceremony in Birmingham.
Prince Charles arrived alongside his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, in style with the Royal duo driving themselves into the stadium in a classic 1970 Aston Martin.
The RAF Red Arrows made an appearance in the second city in a ceremony devised by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight alongside artistic director Iqbal Khan.
Samantha Oxborough performed a rendition of God Save the Queen accompanied by a 700-strong choir and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
Duran Duran delighted the crowd with their performance before some of the 5,000 athletes from 72 nations paraded into the Alexander Stadium.
Performers put on a vibrant show ahead of the action that will see 283 medals across 19 sports won across 11 thrilling days in Brum.
But the undisputed star of the opening ceremony was the giant bull - a nod to Birmingham's world famous Bullring.
