Nutella

the

An instantly recognisable taste. The smooth, thick, gooey hazelnut and cocoa spread tastes just like a whole jar of the soft centre of a Ferrero chocolate. Extremely expensive, but it does taste good.

Nutella, £3.15: 350g (30.9g fat per 100g)

This looks uncannily like the market leader, and contains exactly the same amount of nuts (13%). But you will pay almost a third of the price and taste-wise there's not much difference.

Hazelnut Chocolate, £1.65: 400g (34.5g fat per 100g)

The ingredients are almost identical to Nutella, with the same amount of hazelnuts and cocoa powder. Really moreish and yummy, with a delicious choccy hit and the creamy nuttiness you want.

The packaging could easily be mistaken for the real deal – but the jar is 50g bigger and much cheaper. Perhaps a smidge paler in colour and seems thicker, but it is unlikely many would notice.

Nutoka Hazelnut Chocolate, £1.15: 400g

(34.6g fat  per 100g)

Slightly thicker, but still easy to gloop out of the jar, this had a similar rich cocoa colour and smell to Nutella. It’s nutty, delicious, not too sweet and, if anything, even more chocolately in flavour.

Chocolate Hazelnut, £1.50: 400g

(36g fat per 100g)

A fairly basic spread, it has no nuts and a standard milk chocolate flavour. It has a rather firm texture so not the easiest to distribute evenly and the taste was on the sweet side.

Chocolate, £1.85: 400g

(39g fat per 100g)

This is a rich, luxurious spread that smells delicious in the jar. It is slightly thicker, and is more akin to eating a posh truffle than an everyday choccy bar, but it's priced well below Nutella.
