The family of NHS fundraising hero Captain Tom Moore have confessed to pocketing money from his books.
Tearful daughter Hannah Ingram-Moore said they kept £800,000 from three books he had written after he shot to fame raising £39m for the NHS.
She told TalkTV’s Piers Morgan that Sir Tom wanted them to keep the book profits - but a prologue in his autobiography made out he was doing it for charity.
Thousands of buyers of three books - including autobiography Tomorrow Will Be A Good Day - were oblivious that they were lining the family’s pockets.
The family also spoke of their “regret” over the spa and pool complex at their £1.2million home which they told planners was 'an office' for the charity.
And Hannah sobbed about the abuse they had received online. ''They were were going to kill us all in our beds, with pitchforks and hammers.''
Sir Tom became a national hero raising millions by walking 100 laps of his garden during the pandemic shortly before his 100th birthday. He was later knighted by the Queen.
