Why is Debbie Dingle not returning to Emmerdale? Actress Charley Webb has ‘no plans’ to come back

EMMERDALE fans were left in tears when Debbie Dingle left the village in 2019 and it may be quite a while before we see her on the ITV soap again.

Debs left the village to head up to Scotland where she is managing a garage Lisa Dingle left to her and Belle in her will.

When is Debbie Dingle returning to Emmerdale?

Charley Webb, the actress who brings the Debbie character to life, revealed that she has "no plans" to return to the ITV soap after her maternity leave is over.

The Emmerdale star, 30, is enjoying spending ore time with her three children and admits that being a parent is a 'different ball game.'

Speaking at he launch of, Charley said: I’m still on maternity leave at the moment. It’s been good but three kids is a different ball game.

“It’s been really good fun, but there are no plans for me to return to work at the moment.”

Charley's shares her children with Emmerdale co-star Matthew Wolfenden, who plays David Metacalfe.

Debbie Dingle headed off to Scotland in August 2019, along with her young son, Jack. Daughter Sarah decided to stay in the village while her mum headed off to Scotland to make a go of the garage Lisa Dingle left Debbie in her will.

Actress Charley Webb – who’s played the glam mechanic since 2002 – left the ITV soap so she could enjoy maternity leave with her new baby who was born July 2019.

During an emotional heart-to-heart with mum Charity – Emma Atkins – Debs told her: “I can't say if I will be back, otherwise there would be no point going if I could."

Fans immediately panicked, worried that this was a final goodbye for Debbie, and flocked to Twitter to voice their concern.
One tweeted: "I hope Debbie comes back (followed by a crying emoji)."

When did Charley give birth?

Charley gave birth to her third child at the end of July 2019 and the actress took to Twitter to announce the happy news on July 29.

Posting a black and white picture of her newborn's baby grow which had a Baby wolf; motif on it, she wrote: "BaByWoLf#3 has joined the crazy gang. We’re in a bubble of newborn’ness heaven."

Charley, 31, married Matthew - who plays David Metcalfe - in a surprise ceremony in February 2018.

The couple also have sons Buster, nine, and Bowie, three, together, and announced they were expecting their third child together in February.
