OUTIE IN THE OPEN

Meghan Markle’s belly button has ‘popped’ from an ‘innie’ to an ‘outie’ signalling final stages of her pregnancy

Her bump-skimming Dior kaftan gown highlighted her prominent belly button

MEGHAN Markle is entering the final stages of her pregnancy and she's showing further signs that she is just weeks away from giving birth.

When the Duchess of Sussex stepped out in her stunning Dior gown to attend the British ambassador's reception in Morocco, her 'outie' belly button was clearly visible as the material skimmed over her bump.

The royal mother-to-be, 37, showed off her seven-month bump in the tight champagne-coloured Dior gown with embroidered cape detail, which she teamed with gold shoes and a small clutch bag.

Meghan gently rested her hands on her stomach while she chatted to guests during the dinner showing her belly button transformation from an "innie" to an "outie".

Before her pregnancy Meghan's belly button appeared to be an "innie", as seen in snaps from her first wedding to producer Trevor Engelson in Jamaica in 2011.

It's not the first time we've seen her popped belly button as eagle-eyed fans spotted it back in January.

She donned a figure-hugging black dress from Hatch and a tan coat by Oscar de la Renta during a visit to the Smart Works charity in west London, with her belly button notably prominent.

All the Palace has confirmed was that the baby is “due in spring”, while Meghan later let slip that she was due in April.

During pregnancy, a woman’s body undergoes a number of changes, and the transformation from an “innie” to an “outie” is something many mums-to-be experience.

It typically happens when the baby grows to take up the spare space in her body, and the uterus puts pressure on the mum’s abdomen.

This can cause the belly button to “pop”, typically in the second or third trimester, and is nothing to worry about.

Sun Doctor Dr Carol Cooper said previously: "It’s absolutely normal for the belly button to become more prominent in pregnancy.

"This happens because the pressure inside the abdomen rises as the pregnancy progresses.

"A woman who’s got an 'innie' often finds this becomes an 'outie' sometime after mid-pregnancy, often between 26 and 36 weeks.

"The timing isn’t reliable enough to make any predictions as to when the baby will arrive. Obviously, though, it does suggest the baby is growing.

"The belly button normally goes back to the shape it was before, but, like the rest of the body, it can take time.

"It doesn’t always look quite as neat as before the pregnancy."

The third trimester of pregnancy lasts from the 29th to the 40th week.
