Classic 90s Ford Escort boy racer with just 837 MILES on the clock sold for whopping £91,000
FAST Fords continue to rocket in price with a box-fresh 90s Escort the latest to sell - for an incredible £91,000.
The 1996 RS Cosworth has done just 837 miles making it one of the best ever examples of the boy racer icon.
And collectors went wild for the "time capsule" Escort with the winner finally letting the hammer fall at £91,125 at the NEC Classic Motor Show sale this weekend.
The RS Cosworth - a road-legal version of the classic rally car from the 90s just like the same Lancia Integrale and Subaru Impreza - and has a cult following thanks to its rallying roots.
It followed the legendary 1980s Sierra RS Cosworth and featured the same 2.0-litre "Cossie" producing 227bhp.
That was good enough for 0-60mph in 6.1 seconds.
It also featured the iconic "whale-tail" spoiler making the two-door hatchback instantly recognisable.
The whopping final sale price is more than four times what the original owner paid for it new.
This top-of-the-range Lux model in diamond white with raven black interior would have cost just over £22,000.
And it's still in pristine condition having hardly ever been driven.
The Recaro seats have barely been touched and it's still on the original Pirelli tyres.
Silverstone Auctions said: "This is without doubt one of the finest Fords Silverstone Auctions has ever offered."
