SCREAMING SUCCESS?

Don’t Tell The Bride groom plans horror themed wedding with ‘blood’-stained dress for the bride and the ‘grim reaper’ running the ceremony

Mechanic Jack, 21, decided on the unusual theme for fiancee Becca, 24, a make up artist from East Kilbridge, who had high hopes for a traditional Scottish wedding

A SCOTTISH bride got the fright of her life on Don't Tell the Bride, when her groom created a horror-themed wedding with the grim reaper marrying them.

Mechanic Jack, 21, decided on the unusual theme for fiancee Becca, 24, a make up artist from East Kilbridge, who had high hopes for a traditional Scottish wedding herself.

The couple, who have a young child called Joey together, met eight years ago and predicted at the time that he would eventually marry Becca.

Handing over complete control of her big day, Jack was tasked with arranging the wedding in just three weeks with a budget of £14,000, despite having never planned anything before.

Jack admitted: "I’m a complete mummy’s boy. I’ve always had everything done for me. I think in my mind I still expect that.

“She would feed me my cereal and get me dressed up until I was about 15.”

Becca said on camera away from Jack: "My dream wedding would be in an old Scottish castle. I would like all the Scottish touches like a kilt, the bagpipes. I really do want to feel special and important I think a big fancy dress would make me feel that."

"It would give me the confidence boost that I don’t normally have."

But Jack had other ideas as, after the pair split for three weeks, he revealed his big plans.

He said: "She wants the nice big castle, the nice white dress, the usual traditional look but that’s not the look I’m going to go for.

"The theme for my wedding is a dark fairytale.

"Becca’s personality is dark and mysterious, emo-y. The look I’m going to go for is spooky and mysterious. It’s going to be a horror of a wedding."

To add to his dark wedding day plans, he also drafted in the help of a wedding officiant dressed as none other than the grim reaper, secured for the cost of £300.

Becca looked round a stunning 13th century castle set within 34 acres of beautiful Scottish countryside.

She gushed: “This is exactly what I want. It’s so private. I wouldn’t like to turn up on a main street.”

Becca shouldn’t have spoken too soon, as the boys headed to a venue off a main road, the Edinburgh vaults.

The location is a series of abandoned, underground chambers and considered one of Scotland’s most haunted places – not your usual choice for a romantic wedding.

Jack exclaimed: “There’s puddles on the floor, there’s like a river on one side.”

Best man Shaun reasoned: “You can just put a towel down.

“It’s dark, dingy and damp, smells a bit funny…”

Jack said: “Sounds good man. Sounds like exactly what I’m looking for to be honest.”

And the excitable men's minds were made up when they saw the vault's bar that came with coffin table lids and even had gallows.

They put down £3,750 to hire the spot plus £2,500 for the pub and buffet.

Jack: “I think Becca is going to absolutely love this.”

Next the boys headed to find the perfect dress for his bride-to-be.

Becca admitted: "I would like a sweetheart neckline, lace and some sparkles and I want a big swishing skirt I can play with all day."

Jack headed for something simpler without any glitter and to make matters even worse, he asked to cover the back of the dress in glow in the dark paint added hand prints of “blood” in red paint.

In addition to this, he splurged £100 on spiky bridal boots, £13.50 on the bridesmaid dresses, £600 on suits and £185 on decorations for his spooky venue.

And finally £500 on a taxi for the bridal party to Edinburgh, finishing in a trip on a ghost tour bus.

Becca headed to see her wedding dress for the first time, the day before the big day.

She said: "It is the most important thing. I’m really really nervous I’m feeling shaky.

As the red "blood" hand prints were revealed, Becca broke down in tears.

She said: “Omg he’s totally ruined it, oh no. I need a hanky. I’m at the angry stage now.”

But she decided to wear the gown, and heading to the venue the next day was shocked by the underground vault, and so was her mum.

Becca's mum was clearly unimpressed and said: “This is a joke. It’s a wedding.”

The bride-to-be seemed more surprised than put off, and admitted: “I was not expecting that at all. My first thought were it is dirty and wet. There’s a grim reaper.”

Thankfully the reception was more of a hit.

She said to new husband Jack: “This whole place. Everything I see, I’m like I love this, I love that.

“My dream wedding is the complete opposite of this but I’m glad you seen the fun side of it to make it more exciting and weird and different for everyone. I’m really proud of you.”
