Mellow yellow

What’s sunnier and more uplifting than yellow, says Jane Moore

WELCOME to my Saturday Shop column. The weather may be a little gloomy for the time of year but we can still brighten up our day with a splash of colour. And what’s sunnier and more uplifting than yellow?

It’s a colour that gets a bad press, with lots of people (particularly blondes) telling me that it doesn’t suit them.

If you’re one of them then think again, because whatever your hair colour or skin tone, there are so many shades of this glorious colour that it’s easy to find the right one for you.

, in a fresh yellow and white print is perfect for keeping cool whilst also giving good coverage so it doesn’t look too casual.

Consequently, you could wear it to work and play.  I particularly love the length.

The shoes are a real find because they’re bang on trend with the raffia look whilst also giving good support to the foot thanks to the ‘flatform’ style that gives you extra height without a traditional heel.

Better still, they would literally go with anything so you’d get plenty of wears out of them.

So, be it mustard, lemon, creamy or canary, there are so many yellows to choose from in the stores right now that you can’t fail to find one to give you that summery uplift. And hopefully the weather will get the message and perk up too.
