Rio Olympics 2016: Today’s action as Team GB’s big hitters Tom Daley and Louis Smith go for medals on day three
Day two was full of excitment but Monday promises a day of action-packed sport filled to the brim with British talent
AFTER yesterday's heroics in day two of the Rio Olympic games, Team GB are finally on the board as swimmer raced to a sensational record-breaking gold medal in the 100 metres breaststroke.
Quickly following this win came team-mate Jazz Carlin, who claimed her own medal with silver in the 400m freestyle, just 14 minutes after golden boy Peaty.
However, this is only the beginning of the Brit action with even more Team GB stars on show today as Rio enters its third action-packed day.
TODAY'S SCHEDULE
THE action begins this afternoon, if the wind allows it, with the women's eight getting their quest for rowing gold underway at 1pm.
Quickly after that, the men will go for Olympic glory after yesterday's cancellation and the rushed re-organisation.
William Fox-Pitt and his long-term horse Chilli Morning have faded in the rankings after being in first position - following the cross country segment of the equestrian eventing.
Fox-Pitt was in first after the dressage, but a 22nd-placed finish in the cross country saw him slip down the rankings to 22nd after two events, with jumping to go.
Around the same time Nekoda Smythe-Davis will take on the Austrian Sabrina Flizmoser in the last 32 of the women's 57kg weight category Judo.
After the entirety of yesterday's rowing was cancelled there will be no shortage of action at Lagoa.
Kathrine Copeland and Charlotte Taylor take on the the lightweight double sculls at 3.40pm and just 40 minutes later Will Fletcher and Richard Chambers will face the same challenge in the men's lightweight double sculls.
London 2o12 legends Helen Glover and Heather Stanning begin the defence of their golds later then expected at 4.50pm.
The men's four of Alex Gregory, Mohamed Sbihi, George Nash and Constantine Louloudis begin their campaign in the heats half an hour later.
In the other watersports of the day, silver medallist in 2012 David Florence and Richard Hounslow will be hoping to go one further in the Canoe Double (C2) at the whitewater stadium.
Slightly later Fiona Pennie will take to the water in the K1 Kayak.
The action begins in the pool around 5pm, with Georgia Coates and Eleanor Faulkner competing in the heats of the 200m freestyle.
Hannah Miley, who devastatingly missed out on her first ever Olympic medal on day one goes again in her individual medley campaign.
She is joined by Commonwealth silver medallist Siobhan-Marie O'Connor in the heats beginning at 6pm.
Team GB's synchro-diving team of Tom Daley and Daniel Goodfellow go for a medal in the final at 8pm.
