Harley Quinn show boss explains Catwoman casting shake-up ahead of explosive lesbian love triangle

THE Harley Quinn show boss has explained why he chose to include Catwoman in what has proved to be a big casting shake-up ahead of an explosive lesbian love traingle.

Catwoman was introduced in the second series of the animated superhero program and she's already proven herself as a force to be reckoned with, as she betrayed Harley (Kaley Cuoco) and her crew during a break-in at Doctor Trap's museum.

The Executive Producer of the series Patrick Schumacker spoke to  about introducing the new character and he revealed that he "thought it was a really great choice to make her black instead of white."

The showrunners have previously teased that Catwoman could be a disruptive influence in the budding relationship between Harley and her best friend Poison Ivy (Lake Bell), saying that Ivy "looks up to" Selina, which could play out as a lesbian love triangle.

Schumacker said: "Ivy is so cynical, Ivy doesn't care about much either, but she cares about Catwoman's approval."

"Harley's watching Ivy, like, melt in front of Catwoman because she's so f***ing cool. That was really fun to play with."
