Power Book 3 ‘set for six or seven seasons’ as 50 Cent teases Kanan’s ‘damaged origin story’

POWER's spinoff could last for seasons as rapper 50 Cent teases Kanan's backstory

The hit drama finished last week but will be followed up by four spin-offs, Book II: Ghost, Book III: Raising Kanan, Book IV: Influence and Book V: Force.

Power's showrunner Courtney Kemp and 50 Cent talked about how the spinoffs will explore the origin stories of Kanan and Ghost.

Courtney explained in the Q&A session with Deadline: “As Kanan himself gets older, we know that when he was around 19, that's when he started to hook up with Ghost and Tommy so when you first come into Raising Kanan he's 15 so it would take a minute.”

The show's creator, 50 Cent went on to say it would Power’s darkest chapter yet and will see Disney Channel star Curtis Mekai play the role of young Kenan.

He said: “The lead in Raising Kanan has to regress to the point where he's damaged and has to introduce all of these things to Ghost and Tommy.”

Power was loosely based on 50 Cent's life as drug dealer to a multi-millionaire entrepreneur.

The sixth season ended with a shocking twist with the revelations that Ghost (Omari Hardwick) was shot and killed by his own son Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr).

The latest revelations from 50 Cent and Courtney come after the show runner potentially dropped another bombshell recently.

She hinted James St Patrick has a secret brother - and that he could appear in the Ghost spin-off series.

The show's creator dropped the bombshell in a live Q&A on Instagram and left fans wondering if Omari Hardwick could return to play his character's sibling.

Kemp read out the question: "Does Ghost have a secret sister?"

Smirking, she replied: "No. Not a sister. Hint, hint, hint, hint, hint, hint, hint, hint, hint, hint."

The question of who killed James 'Ghost' St Patrick dominated Power's final season.

Some fans believe the druglord could still be alive.

Ghost was gunned down in his own nightclub in shocking scenes, with Tommy (Joseph Sikora) rushing to his side as he bled out on the floor.

Each episode then focused on a suspect, narrowing down the pool of potential perpetrators.

However, upon rewatching Ghost’s final moments, some fans noticed that something was amiss with the protagonist’s bullet wound.

They claimed that the point of entry stopped leaking blood almost immediately and that the stains across his shirt did not spread in the way a real puncture would.

As a result, they suggested that Ghost could’ve used a blood pack and instead been faking the entire assassination.

YouTube user Alejandro Gonzales took a closer look at the theory, which claims Ghost's wife and son Tasha (Nature Naughton) and Tariq (Michael Rianey Jr) were also in on the stunt.

He began: “They (Tasha and Tariq) helped make his murder scene look official in exchange for their freedom - Tasha, who worked at a salon, could’ve easily made that gunshot wound look real for him."

“The gunshot wound wasn’t even leaking. Ghost knew his enemies were already on their way. So while shutting off all the lights at Truth he made sure to keep all the doors unlocked,” he went on.

“Notice how as soon as Dre walked in a gunshot went off. What he heard was Tariq or Tasha firing the shot but the show was fired elsewhere in the club under ghost’s command.”

As for the fall off of the balcony, the theorist claimed this would’ve been accepted as collateral damage.

The idea quickly gathered momentum, with a whopping 150k views on the video at the time of publication.

Power is available to watch on Netflix.
