LET IT GO

The West End’s Frozen is a flawless retelling of sisterly love that is better than the smash hit film

FROZEN, the tale of two sisters overcoming fear thanks to true love, became a world-wide phenomenon for Disney in 2013.

And no, it's not romantic love but the powerful bond between sisters.

The stage show version has now blown onto London's West End after being delayed for six months by Covid.

The magic of sisterhood, and a talking snowman, are, and dare I say it, better on stage than it is on the silver screen

I'd let these sisters freeze and thaw my heart over and over again without complaint.

Samantha Barks delivers a stellar Elsa with her haunting vocals and visible fear as her powers take hold of her.

A combination of clever lighting and falling fake snow transport you easily to Arendelle and into her mind.

Stephanie McKeon as Anna is simply stunning. The flawless transition from young Anna, played by Summer Beston, leaves you convinced they were the same person.

Children will be captivated as their favourite animations come to life

I found myself rooting for everything Anna does - more than I ever did in the film - and for just a moment I want to see her and Hans (Oliver Ormson) tie the knot thanks to Oliver's charming performance. Her slow burn chemistry with Kristoff (Obioma Ugoala), who could make anyone one fall in love, is masterfully done.

Stephanie delivers clever innuendos for the parents in the audience without losing her charming innocence.

Children will be captivated as their favourite animation springs to life at a distance they can almost touch.

Olaf the snowman and Sven the reindeer are brought to life with clever puppeteering and have the kids roaring with laughter.

Richard Frame who plays the Duke of Weselton is a scene stealer.

His wonderful comic timing and ridiculous dance moves had my stomach hurting from laughter.

The extra 12 songs don't feel a snowflake out of place

The music of the film was one of its biggest draws.

But the stage show features 12 additional, new songs, which slip in seamlessly and don't feel a snowflake out of place.

It's been a tough year for everyone and this powerful story of sibling love is the balm we all need.

Let It Go? You won't want to with the memories of this one.
