Huge music icon from one of the most famous bands of all time reveals first new music in six years

Not only is Ringo a global superstar, he's also a great granddad

RINGO Starr was always dubbed the quiet one in the Beatles, but more than 50 years on from their heyday, he is still banging the drum.

At the grand old age of 84, the sticksman is releasing a new album of country music, which will be available to download and buy from early next year.

The ambitious new album will see Ringo team up with some of the biggest names in country and western music.

‘Look Up’ will feature 11 songs written by Starr himself alongside famous songwriters including Bone Burnett, Billly Swan and Bruce Sugar and marks the drummers first full country music album in more than 50 years.

Insiders say that The Beatle has been a passionate devotee of the music genre and has been credited some of the fab four’s country inspired tracks including “Act Naturally” “What goes on” and “Don’t pass me by.”

Over the summer months ,the musican- whose real name is Sir Richard Starkey, celebrated his 84th birthday at his annual Peace and Love celebration where he lives in Los Angeles.

The Beatle who is known for his youthful style was joined by his wife of 43 years, the model and actress Barbara Bach of the Bond film, The Spy who Loved me fame.

It has been more than 60 years since Ringo Starr, Sir Paul McCartney John Lennon and George Harrison came to fame as members of the iconic rock band The Beatles, becoming the best selling pop group of all time.

Indeed Ringo was late to join the band in 1962, after he was called in as a replacement to Pete Best, who is often referred to as ‘the fifth Beatle.”

The 84 year old met his current wife on the set of the 1980 film Caveman and the pair married the following year at Marylebone Town Hall.

Ringo has three children from his first marriage to Maureen Cox, whom he divorced in 1975.

He currently has eight grandchildren and a great grandson, making him the first great grandfather Beatle.
