This selection of music from Anja Schneider is worth the wait

BERLIN’S techno matriarch, Anja Schneider returns to her still relatively new Sous Music project with the fabulous new Wait EP.

The title track on the new release features the vocal talents of Fritz Helder and the second track sees Fritz go it alone with more than a touch of sonic mastery on The Whistle Song.

Anja has had a busy year with a slew of remixes for the likes of Robert Armani and M.A.N.D.Y. so now felt like the right time for new original material. She says: ‘It felt essential to make a track for the dancefloor’.

We caught up with Anja and she talked us through a playlist of current favourites including her new track Wait.

Alan Dixon – Take A Trip

I love the recent tracks from Alan Dixon. This one reminds me of a very good classic, as it first perfectly into any set and takes you on a trip. Sometimes that's what we all need, a little escapism, and this track delivers that.

Ewan McVicar – Heather Park

I have always been a fan of Ninja Tune, and all that the record label releases. However, they are still able to surprise me, and this was one of those moments. A track which is so different from anything else because the harmonies are almost a bit wrong. But I swear, it's a track I

love and once you hear it out on a night, you won’t forget it.

Earth Trax – Dream Pop

HUGE fan of Earth Trax and again they woke up my longing for their music with this track, what a dream. I love this.

Anja Schneider feat Fritz Helder – Wait

Yes, I have put one of my own in here. Tha's because this latest release was something very new for me and completely different to what I have put out during my career. I am really proud of this track, and it's a bit funkier than usual with a touch of weird and wonderful vocals. It's a track for your mornings.

Shadow Child – Space Rio

This is a peak time track for me, so when I am DJing it always wakes the crowd and causes everyone to get moving. I love it. So much energy!

Matrefakt – Typer Things

I love Liverpool, as of course its home to The Beatles, and has such a rich musical history. But Matrefakt are also another musical export from the same city, and their music is amazing. Their productions excite me, and always get me dancing. They have released on my label Sous too, and I hope they’ll be back soon!

Chloe Caillet – ‘Love Ain’t Over’ (Carlita Remix)

Probably my favourite song of the year (so far). And two of my favourite female artists in one. So many talented female producers are really making names for themselves, and I feel like it’s our moment now to shine more than ever before. The future is female, and they have

that sexy hipness with raw talent – that's hard to find!

Westbam feat Richard Butler - You Need The Drugs (&Me Remix)

OK, so I could put any track here by the KEINEMUSIKCREW, but I come from Berlin and I am very connected to my city and all my colleagues, so I have chosen the Über song from Berlin Westbam here. Goosebumps!

Xinobi – ‘Mujer’ (Anja Schneider Remix)

I was honoured to remix this track by Xinobi. I love his label Discotexas, and he is such an amazingly talented producer and DJ. I was blown away with the raw talent he has. It wasn't easy to make this into a more dancefloor focused track, because he is so soulful, but I tried my best!

Anja Schneider feat Dabrina – Underwater

I was so happy I made a track for such a diverse label. I love the breakbeats and downtempo elements here. This is the music I listen to at home. I tried my best and am very proud of this one.
