LOVE Island narrator Iain Stirling revealed that bosses of the show were worried no romantic couples would be in the final because of the success of Casa Amor.

The dreaded twist in the popular reality ITV2 show - where the couples are split up and sent to a new villa with sexy singletons for three days - certainly caused a storm between couples as multiple heads were turned and cracks began to show in the couples relationships.

The comedian, 31 confessed to Christine Lampard on Friday's Lorraine that producers were worried that there would have been no romantic couples in the final of Love Island.

"Casa Amor worked better than anyone. Normally we're trying to break couples up, but no one wanted to stay together!

"We thought we wouldn't have four couples for the final, just a bunch of bitter people giving daggers to one another, but they got there in the end," he said.

Cracks started to show between Amber Gill, 21 and Michael McGriffiths, 28 Curtis Pritchard, 23 and Amy Hart, 27 and Anna Vakili, 28 and Jordan Hames, 24.

At the recoupling, Michael decided to get with newbie Joanna Chimonides, 22 because he had to bite his tongue with Geordie lass Amber, Anna coupled up with Ovie Soko, 28 which left Jordan single and Curtis found his head was turned by new girl Jourdan Riane, 24 forcing him to confess his real feelings to half-girlfriend Amy.

The aftermath led to tension between couples which made fans back individual Islanders, rather than couples.

Basketball player Ovie became a firm favourite after fans fell in love with his charming character after Anna chose to recouple with Jordan - who she originally dumped for Ovie.

Fans were also convinced that Ovie Soko and Amber Gill were going to be the first couple to win the show as friends.

Until Irish lad Greg O'Shea, 24 stole Amber's heart after a series of unfortunate events with Michael which led the pair to winning the show.

However, the dreaded Casa Amor wasn't all negative as Molly-Mae Hague, 20 and Tommy Fury, 20 beat the curse and ended up second on the show.

While chatting about his own relationship with , 34 with Christine, the comedian revealed that his girlfriend doesn't like listening to his voice on Love Island.

"Laura watches maybe not every night. She watches it every now and again, she finds that she doesn't like 'that' voice, she likes the normal voice.

"She's like 'stop doing the voice all the time!' This is my calm voice."

The Scotsman revealed that he has picked up some of Love Island lingo since narrating for the show - and they have even seeped into his everyday language.

"I'm 30 and slightly overweight, on the phone to Laura, 'I say I’ve got some bad things to tell you, don't mug me off yet, I'll recouple up with nobody, because I need you in my life,''' he said.
