Love Island slams viewers for ‘bodyshaming’ Curtis over claims he needed new clothes after gaining weight in the villa
LOVE Island bosses have slammed viewers for "bodyshaming" Curtis after it was reported he had gained so much weight in the villa that he needed a whole new wardrobe.
The ballroom and latin dancer reportedly asked for an entirely new wardrobe because he can't fit into his original clothes - and the story has caused bosses to hit back at viewers for criticising an Islander's body.
A Love Island spokesperson told The Sun Online: "It is incredibly irresponsible that any Islander would be body-shamed in this way and we would always discourage anyone from making appearance-based comments that could be hurtful to the islanders and their families."
Their response came after the Daily Star claimed he had asked for the new wardrobe.
A source told them: "Curtis took some clothes with him and there were also outfits provided by sponsors.
"But he had to ask for some new ones because he is struggling to fit into them now."
Strictly Come Dancing's AJ Pritchard's brother is said to have gone up two clothes sizes while in the Spanish abode, because he has been enjoying tasty treats and unable to train.
The insider added: "Curtis normally burns off a lot of calories because he's a professional dancer, but obviously in the villa he's not been training."
Meanwhile, after some viewers called for more body diversity in the villa, other fans pointed out the 23-year-old's change in body shape.
One tweeted: "Most of the Islanders have put on weight since they’ve gone into the villa. It was noticeable in Michael and Curtis, even amber looks fuller but it looks good on her."
Another shared: "Why has Curtis all of a sudden added weight?"
A separate viewer wrote: "Curtis actually gained weight in the Villa."
Curtis has enjoyed a whirlwind two months on the ITV2 dating show.
For one month he was coupled up with Amy Hart, but after the boys and girls were divided into two separate villas and new male and female Islanders joined, his head was turned.
While Amy was in Casa Amor Curtis was flirting up a storm with Jourdan Riane.

When Amy was reunited with Curtis he admitted he was not 100 per cent in love with his "half girlfriend", while Jourdan's love interest was Danny.
