Love Island’s most acrimonous splits – from Georgia Steel and Sam Bird to Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies
THE Love Island formula is pretty simple - stick a bunch of extremely attractive 20-somethings in a villa over a long hot summer and expect sparks to fly.
But real-life romances aren't quite so easy, and what seems like true love in the villa doesn't always work on the outside. As these couples found out...
Sam Bird and Georgia Steel, 2018
Georgia Steel and Sam Bird split up after she was accused of cheating on him with her ex-boyfriend.
Sam announced the pair had called it quits and admitted he was too upset to reveal the real reason behind their shock break-up.
But then he revealed that the three-month relationship ended over infidelity.
A source close to Georgia told The Sun at the time: “The relationship ended after Georgia was accused of being unfaithful, after she met up with her ex."
Sam later confronted Georgia at the Christmas show in a very awkward reunion where he accused her of being disloyal.
Gabby Allen and Marcel Somerville, 2017
The Blazin' Squad hunk Marcel and fitness fanatic Gabby were going strong until he cheated.
On April 30, 2018 it was reported she dumped him after discovering he slept with another woman behind her back while they were on a romantic holiday TOGETHER.
Gabby was left devastated after the other woman showed her incriminating messages from Marcel where he even suggested meeting her for some “day sex” as Gabby worked out in the hotel gym.
Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies, 2017
Kem and Amber split after just 132 days of dating after a string of rows.
The news came as a big shock to all their fans especially after they had even talked about getting married.
Despite initially seeming like the perfect pair, the pocket rocket couple headed to splitsville after a series of rows.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun, a pal said at the time: "They’ve been at each other’s necks for the past month.
“They’ve clashed over the smallest things. It’s also been very hard for them to see each other with their hectic schedules.
“They tried to make it work but realised they want different things.”
Amber and Kem also released a statement confirming the sad news to their devastated fans.
It read: "With sadness, we’ve decided to separate. Our schedules made it difficult. We’ll remain good friends."
Alex Beattie and Montana Brown, 2017
Montana Brown was a constant single gal in the villa on Love Island series 3, as her romances with Dom Lever, Sam Gowland and Simon Searles all failed.
But when Alex Beattie arrived, the pair couldn't keep their hands off each other, and quickly took the crown for the most bonking in the villa, as well as becoming boyfriend and girlfriend during a cute picnic date.
Things were different for the previously loved-up couple once they left the villa the day before the final, however.
The Sun revealed they had broken up just days after leaving the villa, though they continued to present a "united front" at the Love Island Aftersun reunion show.
Alex later slammed Montana for lying about their relationship and playing with his feelings.
Olivia Attwood and Chris Hughes, 2017
Olivia and Chris' explosive relationship dominated screentime last year, and the drama continued outside the villa too.
They even bagged their own TV show, Crackin’ On, which caused them to have a bitter Twitter war after the series caused Chris to receive death threats.
Their six-month romance came to a very emotional end after a series of rows.
And Olivia soon went public with on-again boyfriend Bradley Dack, who she previously denied having any feelings for.
Scott Thomas and Kady McDermott, 2016
Although they lasted a whole year, this pair weren't able to keep their relationship going.
Despite seeming to be dating until the 2017 show, Kady and Scott sparked split fears in August 2017 after unfollowing each other on social media.
They also deleted all of their pictures together, before she spent his birthday alone with her dog.
Kady then told The Sun in January that her romance with Scott had ended following ahuge bust-up where he was "really rude" and "swore at her."
"Scott likes to go out and is a party boy, he is very sociable and everyone knows him in Manchester but I'm not like that."
Kady is now dating Towie alumni Myles Barnett .
Rykard Jenkins and Rachel Fenton, 2016
Viewers will recall how Rykard made the ultimate sacrifice of love and left the show to be with Rachel after she was evicted.
They lasted a full 18 months before finally calling it quits.
And at the time the split announcement came just a day after a cryptic message from Rachel simply stating: "Physically shaking with anger."
However, no explanation for the message was provided.
And Rykard had his say in a series of angry tweets accusing her of moving on a week after the split with a "40+ year old in New York."
In 2017, he became a rep for ITV2 show, Ibiza Weekender.
Jon Clark and Hannah Elizabeth, 2015
The most consistent couple, Hannah Elizabeth and Jon Clark teamed-up on the first day and left the villa engaged at the end of the series.
But the ill-fated relationship ended around three months later following a drunken holiday row about Hannah’s glamour modelling career which saw Jon catch an early flight home.
Jon went on to join the cast of TOWIE where he wined and dined glamorous Chloe Sims on a series of dates before dating Lauren Pope.
He later dated Love Island series 3 contestant Chloe Crowhurst - and was reportedly furious when he learned she was going on the show, as the pair were still dating.
They made another go of it when Chloe left the villa, but quickly called it off again.
Jessica Hayes and Max Morley, 2015
Love status - Split up
The first winners of the show didn't have much luck either, and split six weeks after leaving the villa.
Max went on to date Charlotte Crosby but ended their fling after she was caught on Snapchat kissing ex-boyfriend Gary Beadle on a boozy night out- eek!
He bounced back quickly and started dating the then Miss Great Britain, 2016's Zara Holland.
Max is now seeing former Love Islander Laura Anderson.
