LOVE Island’s Molly-Mae Hague has slammed critics and insisted she’s ‘healthier’ after her weight gain.

The 20-year-old has put on a stone and a half in weight in the last year, after admitting she was obsessed with calorie counting and going to the gym.

She told : “I was stone and a half lighter a year ago but that’s because I was at the gym twice a day, and was obsessed with my diet – all I was eating was couscous and rice.

“It was probably unhealthy, and I was extremely underweight for my height.

“I was a size four. I might not be as confident in my body as I was before, but I am healthier.”

Molly-Mae is now a size six – which isn’t big by any stretch of the imagination – yet she has still been subjected to vile comments from trolls on her most recent bikini snaps.

The influencer has also had to deal with people criticising her relationship with boyfriend Tommy Fury, 20, who she met on this year’s series of Love Island.

She told the publication: “I never cared about the comments because I knew that we were going to stay together, and naturally show people that we were real.

“Everyone knows that they were wrong to judge us now.”

The couple are one of only two pairings who are still together from this year’s series, and Molly-Mae hopes Tommy will propose soon.

She previously told MailOnline: “The thing is I wouldn’t be surprised if he did pop the question when we’re in the Maldives over New Year.

“I don’t waste my time, I wouldn’t want to be in a relationship with someone thinking ‘this is only short term’.

“I wasn’t thinking ‘when’s the sell-by date on this one?’ We’re going to be together forever. I’m looking forward to having a rock on my finger!”
