Love Island’s Curtis Pritchard admits he won’t be spending Christmas with Maura but insists they’re still together
LOVE Island’s Curtis Pritchard has admitted he won’t be spending Christmas with Maura Higgins, but insists they are still together.
The dancer is gearing up to star in Dick Whittington in panto, which means he will be away from home for over a month and won’t get the chance to celebrate the festive season with his girlfriend.
Speaking to The Sun Online, the 23-year-old revealed: “I will be doing panto in High Wycombe from the December 2 until January 5.
“I have Christmas day off and AJ does too. He will in Dunstable which is only half an hour away from me so we can spend it together and get mum and dad down to us.”
But Curtis isn’t worried about missing Maura too much because he currently only sees her once a week.
He explained: “At the moment I am only visiting Maura once a week anyway because of our work schedules. I have been training for my boxing and Maura has been training for Dancing On Ice, so we are opposite ends of the country at the moment.
“So it will be the same when I do panto.”
Since leaving Love Island, Curtis and Maura have been hit by claims they are having a showmance because they choose not to share much of their relationship online.
But Curtis is adamant they are in a real relationship and it works for them.
“The villa is not a realistic world. When do you ever spend 24 hours a day with your other half? People have jobs and commitments,” he said.
“It is just a normal, working relationship. We do our separate things and then we see each other. You miss people when you don’t spend all your time with them.
“It makes no sense to me whatsoever that people think we are fake but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. It is mine and Maura’s relationship, we take it as we take it and we do what we do. As long as we are happy it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks.
“Everyone is like ‘why aren’t you posting all the time about each other, why aren’t you posting every time you see each other’ because I just don’t do that. I like to spend my time off the phone when I with her.”
The pairs’ schedule is so busy that Curtis missed Maura’s 29th birthday this week, but he made up for it by giving her two presents on Friday, two on Saturday, two on Sunday and one on Monday before he left her.
Curtis is leading the cast in the pantomime at the Swan in High Wycombe from Fri 13 December 2019 - Sun 5 January 2020.
