Caitlyn Jenner fans confused as the I’m A Celebrity star calls ‘partner’ Sophia her ‘close friend’

CAITLYN Jenner fans were left confused last night as the I'm A Celebrity star called partner Sophia Hutchins her "close friend".

Sophia, 23 – who describes herself as Caitlyn’s “partner in everything” – travelled from the pair's home in Malibu to reunite with Caitlyn, 70, after she left the jungle.

Sophia has been fiercely protective of Caitlyn while she's been in the jungle, previously launching a furious attack on GMB host Piers Morgan for asking "bulls**t questions" about their relationship.

She had told the host they are just "partners" and was horrified when Piers asked if there was any "hanky panky" between them.

But on last night's I'm A Celebrity Coming Home special, Ant McPartlin didn't use the "partners" label the pair have adopted and instead called Sophia Caitlyn's "close friend".

Confused fans took to Twitter with one writing: "Caitlyn’s 'close friend Sophia'? Not what I thought their relationship was?"

Another added: "Pretty sure that Sophia is Caitlyn's girlfriend not close friend?"

A third wrote: "Isn't Sophia, Caitlyn's girlfriend?"

Last week, Sophia finally paid a visit to the jungle after the I’m A Celebrity star was left standing alone on the bridge.

Fans of the show were left heartbroken when no one came to meet her when she was voted out off the show – after weeks of her famous family showing no interest in her progress.

But Sophia was en route to Australia and made it for the final.

Sharing a picture of them on set, she wrote: “So proud of you @caitlynjenner glad I got to visit the jungle! @imacelebrity.”

It later transpired that James Haskell had headed to camp to greet Caitlyn after realising no one else would be there for her car ride home.

The 34-year-old ex-rugby player told his fans: "Such an amazing campmate.

“I am glad I could repay her for all her kindness and support when I was in the jungle.

"It was really important to me she had someone there. It’s crazy when you come out!"

Stars of the series are generally met by their nearest and dearest for an emotional reunion, but none of Caitlyn’s relatives or friends opted to make the trip to Australia.

It has since emerged that daughter Kendall and Kylie jetted off on holiday instead of supporting their parent.

Kylie has been posting pics from her ski trip, while Kendall has been snapped frolicking around on a yacht.
