Will Jacqueline Jossa ever return to EastEnders?

EastEnders dropped a Lauren bombshell earlier this year that got fans thinking.

In July 2019, Kathy Beale revealed that Ian was in New Zealand because Peter and Lauren were having some relationship troubles.

But the soap never confirmed whether or not the pair had managed to rekindle their relationship.

When Lauren left the soap, she was heading to New Zealand to see her ex Peter to give things another go.

But the news from Kathy left fans wondering whether Jacqueline could be making a surprise return to the soap.

EastEnders is yet to announce any plans of a return - so fans will just have to wait and see.

What was Lauren Branning’s exit storyline?

Jacqueline joined the BBC One soap in September 2010 and was the second actress to play Lauren, replacing Madeline Duggan.

During her stint on the soap, Jacqueline was involved in some hard-hitting storylines including a twisted love triangle with brothers Peter and Steven Beale.

Her tragic character also fell in love with her cousin and became an alcoholic after struggling to cope with her mum’s cancer diagnosis.

Jacqueline made quite the departure from the soap in February 2018 during her sister Abi’s funeral.

The single mother made the decision to look for pastures new, marching straight out of the funeral, past her boyfriend Josh and seemingly straight into the graveyard.

Her departure left viewers utterly confused as to whether she was planning to live in a cemetery with her son or if she was actually leaving.

At the time, it also wasn't clear whether Josh would be joining her as she embarked on a fresh start away from the Square.

What has Jacqueline done since leaving EastEnders?

Jacqueline has swapped the Square for the jungle after signing up for this year’s I'm A Celebrity.

The EastEnders actress will brave the monstrous challenges as she joins the likes of Caityln Jenner, Ian Wright and Myles Stepehnson on the popular ITV show.

Speaking about her upcoming tasks, she said: “It’s going to be so difficult going in as me and that’s definitely going to be the hardest part,” she began.

“I have never done a show where I have been myself. And I am also scared of everything - especially spiders! They are the worst, there will be tears!”

She added: “My old colleagues on EastEnders are going to be shocked. I don’t think they can imagine me in there. I don’t like creatures. It is not my thing.”

She went on to say: “I have also never done rock climbing, jumped out of a plane or camped in my life. I am not that kind of girl.

"But having said all that, I am really excited. This is something completely different and it’s going to be a totally new experience.”

The star was also said to have been in talks to join Simon Cowell’s show X Factor: Celebrity, but negotiations unfortunately fizzled out.
