Glastonbury festival 2019 – What items are banned from the festival?
GLASTONBURY Festival is a week of music, fun and performances - but some items are strictly banned from the grounds.
Music-goers started arriving from Wednesday, June 26 - and have been encouraged to pack environmentally friendly products. Here's our guide on what you can and CAN'T bring in.
What items are banned from the festival?
Everyone attending the festival was asked to sign up to the "Love the Farm, Leave no Trace" pledge when they completed their ticket transaction.
This includes not dropping litter, recycling, taking rubbish home, using reusable water bottles and only peeing in the toilets provided.
But here's what you should NOT be taking on site:
Glass
Interestingly enough, the festival's organisers aren’t bothered with what form of glass it is - it’ll be confiscated if it comes in sight with authorities.
From beer to perfume bottles and mirrors, everything will get taken if you bring it with you to the festival, so think twice.
Non-biodegradable body glitter
We’ve all seen the photos of people posing it up with body glitter all over their body.
And while Glastonbury isn’t restricting fans from getting all glammed for the occasion, they are strongly urging people to use products that are biodegradable.
If not, you're more than likely going to see that body glitter disappear.
Disposable wipes
Organisers certainly don’t want no disposable wipes scattered around the stages where artists are expected to perform.
Since these wipes are known to quickly break down into micro-plastics - which has been an ongoing environmental problem - it’s an absolute no-go to show up with these wipes.
Gazebos
Previous concert-goers have complained in the past about the valuable space being taken up by them - and while not officially banned, they are highly discouraged from being brought to the event.
Items that have been strictly prohibited from the festival include portable laser equipment and pens, animals (other than registered guide dogs), sound systems, drums and generators.
