Angus Cloud death updates — Tributes pour in for Euphoria star after he died at age 25 as cause remains unconfirmed

EUPHORIA star Angus Cloud has died at age 25, sources say.

Angus died at his family's home in Oakland, California, according to .

The actor's family told the outlet: "It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today.

"As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways."

Angus was best known for his role as Fez in HBO's hit show Euphoria.

The actor's cause of death has not been confirmed, although early report have suggsted his mother phoned 911 with a "possible overdose".

  • 'There was no one quite like Angus'

    While many of Angus’ Euphoria co-stars have yet to publicly mourn the untimely passing of the 25-year-old actor, the show’s creator, Sam Levinson, has given some touching words in his honor.

    “There was no one quite like Angus. He was too special, too talented and way too young to leave us so soon,” Sam said in a statement obtained by Deadline.

    “He also struggled, like many of us, with addiction and depression. I hope he knew how many hearts he touched. I loved him. I always will. Rest in peace and God Bless his family.”

    HBO series Euphoria has shared a tribute to the late actor on Twitter : “We are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of Angus Cloud.

    Angus said he wanted to just go home and get some rest after his near-death experience, but his mom wouldn’t let him – ultimately saving his life.

    “I would have died,” he said. “She gave me some water, and I started throwing up hella mouthfuls of crimson red blood. S**t was crazy.

    “So then my mama took me to the children’s hospital, and they saved my life. That’s what the scar’s from.

    “They cut my head open, they put some screws and a plate over where I broke my skill and – s**t, sealed me back up, and that was that.”

    Before his death at 25, Angus Cloud opened up to  about surviving a near-death experience.

    He revealed in the interview that he fell into a construction pit while walking at night when he was 15.

    He recalled: “I woke up 12 hours later at the bottom.

    “I was trapped.”

    He eventually climbed out of the pit and took a bus to his mom’s house.

    Cloud told Variety: “It was hella hard to climb out.

    “because my skull was broken, but my skin wasn’t, so all the bleeding was internal, pressing up against my brain.”

    Angus Cloud tragically died at the age of 25 and left behind his devastated mother, Lisa Cloud McLaughlin.

    Lisa and Angus' late father Conor Hickey, both worked as university professors.

    Originally from Ireland, Lisa relocated with her husband to California in the 80s.

    Lisa performed as an actress up until 1999 with roles in iconic TV shows and movies like Twin Peaks, The Parent Trap, Roseanne, and American Beauty.

    The couple shared three children together, their eldest Angus, followed by twin daughters Molly and Fiona Hickey.

    Angus Cloud appeared downcast while on a shopping trip on his birthday in the last public images of him taken before his sudden death, exclusive photos obtained by The U.S. Sun have revealed.

    In the pics, Angus was seen at the Beverly Center in Los Angeles on July 10, which was also the star's birthday, shopping at the Louis Vuitton store.

    The 25-year-old was snapped during the last public outing wearing denim baggy pants and an oversized matching jacket, along with a patterned bandana and denim cap. He was wearing a pair of noise-canceling headphones and a large red backpack for the visit. 

    The actor was seen trying on a pair of purple and orange sneakers worth around $1,300.

    An eyewitness said he was at the store before the mall closed and was with a mystery companion, thought to be a friend, as the pair were pictured at the cash register together.

  • Fans blown away by chilling links to late rapper

    Angus Cloud's fans have pointed out chilling similarities between the actor and the late rapper Mac Miller.

    The actor had allegedly struggled with drug addiction in the past and his mother Lisa reported in a 911 call that he had a "possible overdose."

    Mac, 26, died from an overdose involving fentanyl on September 7, 2018.

    The musician, who had publicly struggled with substance abuse over the years, was found dead at his California home in the San Fernando Valley.

    Angus' fans pointed out that both stars have had mental health issues: Mac talked openly about having depression, while Angus' family acknowledged that the actor struggled with his mental health after the death of his father just weeks earlier.

    Angus described his terrible brain injury as a teen in an interview with , which explained the scar across his head that also functioned as a distinguishing feature for his Euphoria character, Fezco.

    “I broke my skull on Friday the 13th," he said in the interview.

    According to Cloud, he broke away from a group of pals traveling through downtown Oakland, where he grew up, in 2013.

    He didn't notice the construction hole in front of him until he was already falling because he was alone and in the dark, per the interview.

  • Angus was approached by a talent scout for Euphoria

    revealed to the U.S. Sun that Angus was also humble after he was approached by a talent spotter and found fame on HBO's Euphoria, alongside actress Zendaya, seemingly overnight.

    "He actually told me once before that he felt bad because there are a lot of kids that really wanna be actors and they really are trying to do that, and it's probably hard for them to get to where he was at.

    "He just really cared about that a lot.

    "I thought that said a lot about his heart and his character, to still think about other people that are trying to get there.

    "Some people get to that place and then they don't even care about whoever else is trying to get there.

    explained in Oakland, nobody treated Angus as a celebrity as he was more like family, with most using his birth name, Conor Hickey, after his family originated from Ireland.

    His friend described Angus as "kind-hearted" and someone with the biggest smile who was always the joker and rarely serious.

    "He was just a good guy all the way around, I can't say anything bad about him," Josh said.

    Asked about the actor's publicized struggle with drug addiction, Josh revealed that he'd been there for his famous friend, saying: "We have had talks plenty of times. But you know, at the end of the day, you can't control everything.

    "He's been through a lot, before Euphoria really. Just problems in general, life issues, and going through situations. It's hard."

    said he was stunned to receive a call from a close friend about Angus's death on Monday, saying: "I feel sick, I just feel sad. I just came from a job, I found out on the job.

    "Everything is still so new to me, so yeah, I have no idea [what happened]. I've just basically been sitting here, trying to do other things and stay busy."

    Josh said he has reached out to other friends and family who planned to host a private memorial on Monday evening at a location in Oakland, close to his home.

    He went on to say he feels "terrible" for Cloud's mother Lisa, who was already grieving the loss of her husband.

    said he was there to support the rap group, while member D.Bledsoe also revealed to The U.S. Sun the young actor spoke about plans for the future.

    He said: "We just met in person this past Friday at our record release celebration. He wanted to direct a music video for us."
