Gary Busey ‘charged with sex crimes after multiple complaints from Monster Mania fan convention’

ACTOR Gary Busey has been charged with three counts of sex crimes that took place earlier this month, cops say.

The offenses are said to have taken place during a Monster Mania convention at a hotel in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, according to the authorities.

Police in Cherry Hill confirmed Saturday that the person they are charging is the 78-year-old actor, who lives in Malibu, California.

According to , he was charged Friday with two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact, a single count of fourth-degree attempted sexual assault and a single count of harassment.

Cherry Hill Police Lt. Robert Scheunemann said “it was about contact. It was about touching,” according to .

The officer said that authorities received multiple complaints involving at least two victims.

Few details about the alleged crime were given, other than saying it took place at the Doubletree Hotel on Route 70 in the township during the convention held between August 12-14.

The semi-annual convention celebrates horror films and allows fans to meet performers.

Donna Weaver, a spokesperson for the Camden County prosecutor’s office, declined to answer questions about the charges, saying: “We’re not commenting”.

Busey made his major film debut in a supporting role in 1974’s Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, starring Clint Eastwood and Jeff Bridges.

He is best known for playing the late musician Buddy Holly in the 1978 film The Buddy Holly Story, a performance that earned him an Academy Award nomination for best actor.

In the 1980s he starred in a number of critically-acclaimed films, including the western Barbarosa and the Stephen King adaptation Silver Bullet.

Busey also featured in a supporting role in the action films Point Break, Under Siege and Predator 2.
