Did Beyoncé use an ableist slur in her song?
In the song Heated, which was co-written with Drake, Beyoncé sings the line: "Spazzin' on that a*s, spazz on that a*s."
The term spazzing is slang meaning to go crazy, but it comes from the word "spastic," which is a term that is considered derogatory to people with spastic cerebral palsy.
According to the website , spastic cerebral palsy: "limits movement due to muscle stiffness and spasms."
Beyoncé received backlash online after listeners noticed the slur and called her out for being an ableist.
