Bon Jovi star Alec John Such dead at 70: Rock band’s first bassist passes away, singer Jon announces
ROCK musician Alec John Such, the original bassist for the band Bon Jovi, has died at the age 70.
The rock star's death was announced on Sunday by the band's lead singer Jon Bon Jovi who highlighted Such's role as one of Bon Jovi's founding members.
Few details have emerged about the circumstances surrounding the death of the New York-born musician.
“We are heartbroken to hear the news of the passing of our dear friend Alec John Such,” Bon Jovi said in .

The singer said Such was the one who brought the band members together.
"Today these special memories bring a smile to my face and a tear to my eye," the post said.
"We will miss him dearly.”
Such was was introduced to Jon Bon Jovi in the early 1980s while working for a New Jersey music venue, according to the .

The two musicians reportedly met after the singer performed at the ballroom as the musical act Jon Bon Jovi & The Wild Ones.
The pair eventually joined forces with three other friends to form their own group, which would become the grammy-award winning band Bon Jovi.
Such left the band in 1994 after he started to get burned out.
“It felt like work, and I didn’t want to work," Such said in a previous interview with the Asbury Park Press, according to Variety.
"The reason I got into a band to begin with is because I didn’t want to work.”
In addition to his work performing on stage, the bassist also worked behind the scenes and managed several acts throughout the course of his career.

While no longer a formal member of Bon Jovi, Such made a few sporadic guest appearances with the group over the years.
Such joined the band on stage for a to commemorate Bon Jovi's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
